December is here!

Creative Arts Jr. created these webbed masterpieces when we were reading Eric Carle's
The Very Busy Spider

You may or not have peeked into the classroom to see these beautiful Multi -Media canvases created by the Creative Arts Super kids...wow...can I say Art Gallery??
The preschool theme this week was all about Shapes. We used Paperoni to create these 3-D shape creations. It was a great exercise in fine motor and perseverance not to mention they are gorgeous.

Are your Holiday cards ready to be mailed? Well, the classroom dramatic play centre is set up like a Post Office this week and the kids have been delivering cards and bills to all the teachers and their friends in the classroom. When yours are ready to be mailed bring along your children to the post office and let them stick the stamps...they'll love it.
Just look at these two postal workers from the 3 year old class.

Another three year old creating with the Paperoni.

The Creative Arts Plus kids had a blast creating these 3-D paper sculptures and the dialogue that went along with them was hysterical.
"This is a hamster run" "This is a roller coaster" "This is the playground"

Dinosaurs walked amoung us at Good Morning this past week

Dinos Dinos...Everywhere!
This week at Good Morning we explored the famous dinosaur theme in almost every program and it was a big hit. The preschoolers were roaring with songs and games from the Dino Pokey to going on a Dino Hunt. Seen around the classroom were dinosaurs taking over the dollhouse, dinosaur bones in the sandbox for our little paleontologists to discover, dinosaur puzzles, dinosaur play dough creatures and as you may well expect from our wonderful teachers...
ART!!ART!!! ART!!!!
It was dino-mite!!!

The above creation was done by our Plus (JK&SK) group as they created an exploding volcano with the dinosaurs.
Three year olds created these dino bones by using pasta to create the skeletons.

Our Creative Arts Jr group created these multi-media dinosaurs with an emphasis on lines stripes and triangles...ROAR!

Two year olds created these little dino's cracking out of their egg.

Two's also created these little dino puppets using cheerios for their spots.

Creative Arts Plus made these water coloured dinos with their little eggs to match.

Free art painting to create something for mommy!

I hope you enjoyed seeing a little peak into our Dino-Mite week!

Inspired by Henri Matisse

Creative Arts Plus-Wednesday
(JK&SK)

The children explored the works of Henri Matisse in his later years when his art changed and he began to create wonderful cutouts. Look for hints of Matisse's influence in some of your books at home. Eric Carle's illustrations used colorful tissue and paper cutouts. Ezra Jack Keats also used paper collage to create many of his pictures. It will be interesting to see if your children can find any similarities between their story books and the work of Matisse. Enjoy!!

Donna Downey Inspired

Creative Arts Plus-Monday
(JK&SK)

Children used watercolour crayons to create their background. Magazine script to twist the stems of their flowers and then used various pattern paper to cutout the petals of their flowers. All brought together by my favorite embellishment...BUTTONS!!!
These creations were inspired by my favorite artist and scrapbooker these day. Check out her version of what the kindergarten children re-created at her website...
Enjoy...Karen

Preschool Songs

In this house there is a room,
In this room there is a bed.
And in that bed lies a little teddy bear,
With a very bad cold in his head.
Achoo!!
With a very bad cold in his head.
Achoo!!

And if this little teddy bear,
Stays in bed and takes care,
Soon he'll be up,
And running all about.
And have no more cold in his head,
Achoo!!
And have no more cold in his head,
Achoo!!

This is a song we use for the morning classes for our health and safety week.
